Peer Review Process

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence. If the editor approves, peer reviewers will consider submissions whose identities remain anonymous to the authors.

All articles are reviewed externally by Blind Peer Review.

The authors have a right to get acquainted with the reviews and the critical remarks (comments), and if necessary, they may make some changes, agreeing to the terms with the editor. The Editorial Board has a right to make essential stylistic corrections and change the scientific paper's layout to a uniform format. The revisions made by the Editorial Board will be agreed upon with the author.

The articles are evaluated according to the adopted scientific criteria: correspondence of the research to the present-day theoretical level in the domain of the chosen problem; sufficient empirical basis; originality of practical material; originality of hypotheses, conclusions, and recommendations; topicality of the subject investigated. The logic and clearness of the exposition are evaluated as well.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published monthly.

Path of Science strives to keep to a continuous publication schedule so that articles are published as quickly as possible, as soon as they are ready.

Articles shall be published as they become editorial processing by adding readily for publishing materials in the journal's current issue.

Three steps to publishing: a manuscript is being evaluated for compliance with the formal requirements of the journal (volume of the text, the number of sources, etc.) and originality of work (performed by a particular program on the platform of the journal). The decision is made within 5-7 days.

If the procedure is completed successfully, your article is sent for review. The decision is made within 16-20 days.

If the reviewer’s decision is positive, your article will be directed to preparation for publication. Publication on the site is done within 10-14 days.

Open Access Policy

Free for readers

Path of Science does not charge its readers for access; it is an open-access journal. Papers are available online free of charge, and no subscription is needed to read the full text. Commercial publishers charge for work done by other people – researchers that produce scientific results and editors and referees that select the papers. As a result, many scientists cannot afford access to most publications. We believe such a situation is fundamentally unfair; free and open access to research contributes to the global knowledge exchange.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Publication ethics

International standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and national legislation for copyright protection compose the legal basis for publication ethics.

- Main principles of published materials’ high quality are as follows: 1) soundness: the research being reported should have been conducted ethically and responsibly and follow all relevant legislation; Authors should take collective responsibility for their work and the content of their publications; 2) honesty: researchers should present their results honestly and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation; 3) unambiguousness: publications should provide sufficient detail to permit experiments to be repeated by other researchers; 4) completeness of presented materials: reports of research should be complete. They should not omit inconvenient, inconsistent or inexplicable findings or results that do not support the authors’ or sponsors’ hypothesis or interpretation; 5) balance: new findings should be presented in the context of previous research; 6) originality: authors should adhere to publication requirements that submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language. Work should not be submitted concurrently to more than one publication; 7) transparency: all sources of research funding, including direct and indirect financial support, a supply of equipment or materials, and other support (such as specialist statistical or writing assistance) should be disclosed.

Scientific paper authorship ethics. Researchers (paper authors):

- should ensure that only those individuals who meet authorship criteria (i.e. made a substantial contribution to the work) are rewarded with authorship and that deserving authors are not omitted;

- all authors should agree to be listed and approve the submitted and accepted versions of the publication. Any change to the author list should be supported by all authors, including any who have been removed from the list;

- all authors should have read and be familiar with the reported work and should ensure that publications follow the principles set out in these guidelines;

- authors should work with the editor or publisher to correct their work promptly if errors or omissions are discovered after publication;

- authors of material have a responsibility to inform the journal promptly if they become aware that the paper submitted, approved for publication or already published requires correcting;

- authors are not allowed to copy references from other publications if they have not read the cited work; authors should represent the work of others accurately in citations and quotations;

- relevant previous work and publications should be adequately acknowledged and referenced by other researchers and the author’s own. The primary literature should be cited where possible; replication of previous works and their paraphrasing are not allowed: they may be used only as a foundation for new conclusions;

- data, text, figures or ideas originated by other researchers should be acknowledged appropriately and not presented as if they were the author’s own. Original wording taken directly from publications by other researchers should appear in quotation marks with the appropriate citations;

- applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed. Copyright material (e.g. tables, figures or extensive quotations) should be reproduced only with appropriate permission and acknowledgement.

Scientific paper peer review ethics

Editors guarantee independent peer reviews to ensure the honesty and objectivity of comments on the scientific value of the paper considered for publication.

According to the Journal’s policy, Editors set the peer review process of materials submitted for publication.

Editors ensure the fair and proper process of peer review.

Editors may reject a paper without peer review when it is deemed unsuitable for the journal’s readers or is of poor quality. This decision should be made in a fair and unbiased way. The decision should only be based on the Journal’s editorial policy.

Editors use appropriate peer reviewers for papers considered for publication by selecting people with sufficient expertise and avoiding those with conflicts of interest.

Peer reviewers are told what is expected of them and informed about any changes in editorial policies.

If reviewers raise serious concerns about the validity or reporting of academic work, editors allow authors to respond to the problems.

Editors protect the confidentiality of authors’ material and remind reviewers to do so. Editors should not indicate a paper’s status with the journal to anyone other than the authors.

Editors protect reviewers’ identities.

Scientific paper editorial ethics

Editors are in a powerful position to make decisions on publications, which makes it very important that this process is as fair and unbiased as possible and is by the academic vision of the particular journal.

All editorial processes are described in Information for authors, requirements for authors, types of materials to be published and how the journal handles papers.

When readers, authors, or editors point out genuine errors in published work, which do not render the work invalid, a correction (or erratum) should be published as soon as possible. The paper's online version may be corrected with a revision date and a link to the printed erratum. If the error renders the work or substantial parts of it invalid, the paper should be retracted with an explanation of the reason for retraction (i.e., honest error).

At the end of the peer review process, Editors take relevant measures with a good comment explaining the review results.

Editors must respond to all allegations or suspicions of research or publication misconduct by readers, reviewers, or editors.

Editors must provide authors with a list of requirements. Guidelines are to be updated regularly. Editors work by the system of identity insurance.

Retracted papers are retained online and prominently marked as a retraction in all online versions. Editors receive information on problems that arise and decide whether the report’s accepted for publication or nonacceptance. The final editorial decision and reasons for this should be communicated to authors and reviewers.

Editorial conflicts of interest should be declared, ideally publicly. Editors should not be involved in decisions about papers in which they have a conflict of interest.

Appeals and complaints

If you wish to appeal a rejection or make a complaint, you should contact the Editor in the first instance, who will provide details of the journal's complaints procedure. The authors should contact the Chief Editor for complaints that cannot be resolved with the Editor.
